The CW's hit TV series, Vampire Diaries, continues to garner a massive amount of anticipation for its fifth season, which isn't scheduled to kick off until the fall.

While there are undoubtedly many questions on the fans' minds after its Season 4the finale, one of the most popular ones seems to be the future of Silas, who had taken over Stefan (Paul Wesley).

As per her usual self, TVD executive producer Julie Plec recently dished the dirt to Hollywood Life on the what's to come for Silas moving forward.

"There will be a pretty cool mythology that will carry on in terms of Silas, and the mystery of his past 1,000 or 2,000 years ago," she said.

The EP also let the cat out of the bag on a brand new villain set for arrival in Mystic Falls. The respective antagonist will be adding turmoil to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena's (Nina Dobrev) newly rekindled relationship.

Although no official airdate has yet to be announced, Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries is slated to begin in September. Its spin-off series, The Originals, will be starting up at some point in October. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the vampire TV series.
