The anticipation for CW's The Vampire Diaries continues to build for its upcoming fifth installment.
Actress Anna Kebbel, who dons the role of Lexi Branson, recently spoke to Zap2it about the very real possibility of returning to the popular program, and how it's a testament to all the VD loyalists.
"It's important for me to let the fans know that they have truly helped to keep Lexi alive. I love the character deeply, and [executive producer] Julie Plec loves the character. And we are doing the best we can to continue keeping her alive," she said.
Although Kebbel is actually the host of the Rehash episode recaps on The CW's website, she still claims she's in the dark on whether her character will actually return to the TV series.
"The exciting thing about Lexi is you never know when she's going to pop up ... but she absolutely can. And most likely will. We've had some talk [about Lexi] possibly appearing on the upcoming spinoff The Originals], but that's uncharted territory, so they're still figuring out how they want to handle that," she added.
Although no official airdate has yet to be announced, Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries is slated to begin in September.
