Seth MacFarlane of 'Family Guy' to Feature in 'Futurama'
Seth MacFarlane is making the jump from voicing Family Guy's K-9 pal to portaying a different canine on Futurama.
Now it its seventh and final season, Futurama has a stacked list of guest stars to run through before they head off air and MacFarlane is slated to feature in the Aug. 14 episode, according to EW.
Futurama's executive producer David X. Cohen states that the episode's plot will involve going back in time via Fry's memories to fix something in 1999. While this is going on, Fry's dog, Seymour, will have a thing or two to say.
"This will be Seymour's first and only spoken dialogue," Cohen said, according to EW. "Since Seth voices Family Guy's talking dog, Brian, we thought it would be funny to have him blatantly rip himself off for our benefit. As an added bonus, the only person he can sue is himself, so we're off the hook."
The comedy central program was announced it's impending cancelation back in April due to low viewership. Futurama has had an interesting run, once being resurrected from the depths of cancelation and often begin rescued from obliteration at the last moment, but it eventually succumbed to its fate. However, as it leaves the air, fans can expect guest vocal appearances from the likes of Larry Bird, Sarah Silverman, and George Takei.
"We would love to continue," creator Matt Groening told EW. "We have many more stories to tell. But if we don't, this is a really great way to go out... I think these episodes are the best ones we've ever done."
