To the excitement of its many loyalists, CBS' highly popular crime drama, Criminal Minds, will be making its return in the fall for its ninth installment.

While fans of the program must wait out its hiatus to ultimately see how Season 9 will ultimately pan out, cast member Joe Mantegna (David Rossi), who will also be directing a future episode, recently dished on what fans can expect from his character moving forward.

"We've already learned [Rossi's] had three former wives and that he lost one of them. We know about his military background. Beyond that, we'll see. There may some more other secrets that are unveiled, as well as things about all the other characters," he stated.

In other Criminal Minds happenings, executive producer Eric Messer had addressed TV Guide about the Season 8 finale death of Strauss (Jayne Atkinson), and how he dealt with separating his feelings for Atkinson the person from the limited character development he felt was left for her part.

"Yeah, I had a hard time with that. I've known Jayne for so long and I had to really separate knowing Jayne and the creative place we are with Strauss. It's hard for the team to have an enemy like The Replicator, and for him to not do any damage just didn't seem right," he said.
