The wait is almost over as Showtime's hit series, Dexter, will be making its long awaited return to cable TV on Sunday for its eighth and final season. The creative brass will have a mere twelve episodes to provide the fans with a high quality resolution.

While Deborah (Jennifer Carpenter) had always had a passion to be a part of law enforcement, she clearly let her feelings for her brother Dexter (Michael C. Hall) get in the way of what's right and wrong, as she made an instantaneous choice to alter her moral compass.

Last season saw Deb in an extremely difficult dilemma: shoot the brother she always knew for his wrongs or kill Captain LaGuerta (Lauren Velez) to keep Dex's freedom intact. She did the latter, which has surely served to send her life into a downward spiral.

At the start of Season 8, Deb will no longer be donning a badge, and will be employed by a private detective played by the likes of Sean Patrick Flannery.

Showtime's Dexter is set to make its return to cable TV on Sunday, June 30 at 9/8 p.m. Central. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on America's favorite serial killer. Get a sneak peek at Season 8 below.
