Currently on a hiatus until its upcoming installment in the fall, CW's The Vampire Diaries continues to stir up a large amount of buzz for its highly anticipated Season 5.

On July 1, creator Kevin Williamson, whose since moved on to working on Fox's new TV series, The Following, recently took to Twitter to praise the season opener as well as TVD producer Caroline Dries.

"Hey guys, guess what fifth season opener I just read. So awesome. Kudos to the brilliant @carolinedries," he posted.

According to Wet Paint, Dries will be taking over a brunt of the TV series' day-to-day operations while executive producer Julie Plec distributes her time between Vampire Diaries, its spinoff The Originals and also helps out with The Tomorrow People.

"Work status update: Eps 1 of TVD and TTP are brilliant, thanks to @carolinedries, @GBerlanti and team Klemmer/Rake," she tweeted on June 30.

The CW's Vampire Diaries is slated to kick off its fifth season on Thursday, October 10. Its spin-off series, The Originals, is set to launch its first season on Tuesday, October 15.
