While there hasn't been a whole lot of news coming out on the CBS hit crime TV series Criminal Minds, the program will reportedly be experiencing some drastic alterations to some of its major characters, courtesy of executive producer Erica Messner and the creative brass.

When it comes to the romance department, many fans are undoubtedly wondering whether or not Rossi (Joe Mantegna) will be moving on to another relationship, following the death of Strauss (Jayne Atkinson).

Messner recently spoke to TVGuide in order to clear up the character's future love life, also addressed the prior death of Maeve (Beth Reisgraf).

"He feels like he's still with Maeve and that would feel like a betrayal to Maeve, so we're not going to there this year," she explained.

The EP had previously dished to the site about how she dealt with separating her feelings for Atkinson the person from the limited character development she felt was left for the part.

"Yeah, I had a hard time with that. I've known Jayne for so long and I had to really separate knowing Jayne and the creative place we are with Strauss. It's hard for the team to have an enemy like The Replicator, and for him to not do any damage just didn't seem right," Messner said.

CBS' Criminal Minds is set to kick off Season 9 on Wednesday, September 25. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the TV series. Behind-the-scenes photos from Season 8 can be viewed below.
