'Under the Dome' Spoilers: Executive Producer Previews Big Surprises Ahead for Barbie and Julia [VIDEO]
As Under the Dome enters its fourth episode on July 15, executive producer Neal Baer teased recently about what's coming up next for the show.
"There's a big surprise next week," Baer told TV Guide, cited in a Tuesday report. "The show is filled with Easter eggs every week. Does Barbie (Mike Vogel) know anybody or have a past there? Don't take everything at face value. You got a glimpse into something that will be coming next week."
At the end of Under the Dome's third episode, Julia (Rachelle Lefevre) shuffled through Barbie's bag when he wasn't looking and discovered a map with marked coordinates. Being a journalist, Baer said "it's safe to say" that Julia does an investigation to get more details about the map.
"She doesn't know that circle on the map. It's not what you'd expect," he further said. "That's what I love about the show. You expect the cabin. Well, you're wrong."
The show will also be concerning itself with Norrie and Joe's bizarre seizures in episode 4. Baer said that things will "rev up" in the episode, which he promised would have a "jaw-dropping end." Additionally, Baer said that the show would be covering the dome's ability to cut through water in episode 6, appropriately titled The Endless Thirst.
Baer previously said that the show's producers are "dividing the series into thirds: faith, fear and fascism." He said that the first few episodes represent faith, such as the whole town coming together to put out a fire in episode 2. It is suggested that the town of Chester Mill will gradually become more fearful as the season moves along before becoming a nearly fascist town.
In other Under the Dome news, the series is continuing to get relatively high ratings with 10.6 million viewers watching episode 3 on Monday night. Though viewership is down 20 percent from its 13.3 million debut, it was still able to handily beat its 10 p.m. competitors.
Under the Dome will air its fourth episode on Monday, July 15 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
