With the final audition episodes airing Tuesday and Wednesday, America's Got Talent judge Howie Mandel revealed some of the acts he believes could make it to the top 10.

In Thursday's edition of his weekly Parade magazine column, Mandel singled out country singer Milton Palton as a standout from this week's episodes.

"I think a lot of people can sing, but there are certain people who just touch you," Mandel wrote of Palton.

He explained that Palton is the kind of singer that will "flourish and surprise us" on America's Got Talent.

Though he liked Palton's chances, Mandel also admitted that this would likely be the year for variety acts over singers. He has mentioned this about variety acts in a previous column, saying that despite the amount of talented singers this year, they may not stand out compared to more original acts.

Of the Ballet Folklorico Mestizo mariachi trio, Mandel noted that they were the type of act that gets talked about a day later. Such an act "deserves an opportunity to move on and show us one more time," he said.

He wrote that child ballroom dancers Yasha and Daniela were very skilled for their age, despite being uncomfortable with some of Daniela's "adult" moves. Overall, he summed up next week's Vegas round as "harder than it has ever been." He wrote that it was heartbreaking that almost every act they've seen is going to face rejection at some point in the competition.

Ratings were steady for this week's final audition episodes. It was the most viewed show on television on Tuesday and Wednesday, getting 9.81 and 10.48 million viewers respectively.

NBC announced Thursday that the America's Got Talent finale would air on Sept. 18, just in time for the beginning of the fall TV season. The two-hour finale will take place in Radio City Music Hall.

America's Got Talent will air its eighth episode of the season on Tuesday, July 16 at 9 p.m. on NBC. Watch Wednesday night's episode here:
