Just off the heels of a solid Money In The Bank pay-per-view and Monday Night Raw, the WWE creative brass continued to push some of its fairly fresh storylines with its July 19 edition of Smackdown, which was taped in Providence, Rhode Island.

The show features the likes of new face Dolph Ziggler, who took on Jack Swagger while his former girlfriend/manager A.J. Lee heightened her bond with Big E. Langston, who ambushed The Showoff on Monday night.

Attacked by The Shield on Raw, Mark Henry evened up the score by coming to the rescue of The Usos following Dean Ambrose's interference.

Later on in the program, John Cena's Summerslam opponent Daniel Bryan faced off against Wade Barrett while Y2J Chris Jericho went head to head with Curtis Axel. Also, the Smackdown MITB briefcase winner Damien Sandow tried to make peace with his former friend Cody Rhodes.

The following are the complete results for this Friday's Smackdown:

  • Vicky Guerrero was named the new general manager of Smackdown.
  • Dolph Ziggler beat Jack Swagger with the Zig Zag.
  • AJ Lee and Big E. Langston came close to liplocking, but he stopped her.
  • The Shield vs. The Usos was a no contest due to interference from Dean Ambrose. Mark Henry came to The Usos' aid and ran off Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.
  • Daniel Bryan was victorious over Wade Barrett via submission.
  • Curtis Axel beat Chris Jericho. Ryback attacked Y2J after the matchup.
  • Damian Sandow attempted to made things right with Cody Rhodes by offering him a job protecting his MITB briefcase. Rhodes attacked Sandow instead, who ran out of the ring.
