'Falling Skies' Season 3 Spoilers: Noah Wyle Talks Alternate Timeline With Tom Mason in "Strange Brew" at Comic-Con VIDEO
Falling Skies is going to be a little different for this week's episode.
Although the TNT sci-fi drama has never been formulaic, the upcoming airing of "Strange Brew" will take viewers away from the episodic structure fans may be used to.
Following the events of "The Pickett Line," Tom (Noah Wyle) has been taken captive by the Skitters while the rest of the Mason clan heads off in search of Anne (Moon Bloodgood) and baby Lexi.
While promos for the new episode show two different iterations of Tom - one clean-shaven and donning a button down, another looking like the bearded, dirt covered resistance fighter viewers have come to know - the original fan suppositions that the Espheni could have cloned him may not be right.
If it is not a clone, then a logical conclusion is that it is a memory of pre-invasion Tom. Based on comments from Wyle at Comic-Con, it is safe to assume that this is no flashback.
"We made a creative decision to not go and do flashback episodes, that's sort of the easiest go to when you run out of storyline," Wyle told IGN.
However, Bloodgood admitted to IGN that the featured events never actually happened, it is a safe bet that we will be seeing some sort of alternate timeline.
"This Sunday's show we do play with our timeline a little bit," Wyle said, according to IGN. "I'm not going to say how or why but the narrative structure gets fractured for the first time...it's a flash-sideways."
Perhaps it is an Espheni method of playing mind games with the eldest Mason? Viewers can find out this Sunday at 10 p.m. on TNT.
