After Demi Lovato was accused of dissing Justin Bieber during the X Factor auditions, the judge refuted the claim.

"What they didn't put in the tabloids is that I actually turned around," she told MTV in regards to the audience, who negatively reacted to her critique. "And I was like 'Actually, guys, you took me the wrong way... I actually explained myself right then and there, but they didn't put that on TMZ."

While, the former Disney star admits that the misinformation is aggravating, she made light of the situation.

"It is annoying, but it is what it is," she also said in the Saturday report. "I have to be more careful with the way that I word things, but I was home schooled so my grammar's not the best."

The star also previously defended her words via Twitter after the incident occurred.

"Btw - no shade thrown at Justin. So many people audition with his songs.. Finally someone sang it the way it was meant to be sung," she tweeted on July 13.

The audition she's referring to is a young male's rendition of Bieber's 2012 song As Long As You Love Me during the X Factor's stop in California on July 10. A source revealed that Lovato and the other judges - Simon Cowell, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio - loved the young singer's performance. But it was Lovato's initial critique that fueled the exaggerated TMZ report.

"Well, finally someone can sing the song the way it was meant to be sung," she told the contestant.

In the same report, TMZ stated that Lovato also told a 22-year-old contestant that the music industry "doesn't need another little punk running the streets." The tabloid deemed her comment another jab towards Bieber.

It's clear, however, that Lovato's words were simply misinterpreted and the star had no intention of dissing the 19-year-old popstar.
