'Sons of Anarchy' Season 6 Premiere: Gemma & Tara Set To Be Adversaries? TRAILER & Details
Just off the heels of a well-received Comic-Con panel appearance, the FX hit TV series Sons of Anarchy continues to stir the pot of anticipation for its upcoming sixth season, set to return in the fall with a deeper rivalry that many saw coming, Tara vs. Gemma.
Both Maggie Siff (Gemma) and Katey Sagal (Gemma) recently spoke to NBC News about the brewing confrontation between Jax's (Charlie Hunnam) two leading ladies.
Siff feels that Tara's biggest hurdle this season will be to stay alive amid the unraveling of the club, which has seen better times.
"Staying alive - that's my challenge this year. Tara starts out in prison ... but then there's a trial (that will determine) whether or not she goes back to prison. ... She's trying to keep her children safe and give them a way out of the life," she said.
Speaking of the Charming friction, Siff also took the opportunity to elaborate on the clear and apparent differences between Tara and Gemma.
"You'll see a very adversarial relationship between Tara and Gema this season, mostly because my main focus is really about getting my kids out of Charming - and Gemma's main focus in the world is making sure her son and her grandchildren never leave this club. ... They're working in direct opposition to each other this season, so it's not going to be a pretty relationship," she explained.
The dynamic between Jax's wife and mother has seemingly fluctuated from the start. Sagal added that the respective situation won't be changing anytime soon.
"The relationship bounces around a lot, certain things will intensify," she said.
