Lea Michele Questioning Cory Monteith's Friends About His Final Days, What Led To 'Glee' Star's Fatal Overdose
Lea Michele is desperate for answers following the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith.
According to reports, the Glee actress is reaching out to his close friends to find out why relapsed and what led to his fatal overdose of alcohol and heroin July 13.
“Lea is trying to talk to the people who last saw him,” an insider told Us Weekly. “She wants to know what happened, she wants to understand.”
Michele, who dated her Monteith for 14 months, “hasn’t been in communication with a lot of people” -- including her Glee co-stars, an insider said.
On the evening of Saturday, July 13, the 26-year-old Glee star received a phone call that her boyfriend of more than a year was dead at the young age of 31.
"Lea completely lost her mind," a close friend told Us Weekly. "She went crazy, screaming and crying until 3 a.m."
"Lea has been inconsolable and feels like she's been hit by a truck," the friend said. "She didn't know he'd started using again."
Monteith spent the month of April in rehab, after Michele had staged an intervention.
Last Tuesday, the BC Coroners Service confirmed Monteith died from a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol. The post-mortem testing, which included an autopsy and toxicological analysis, seem to confirm this was an accident.
Monteith was found deceased in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, shortly after noon on July 13. He had checked into the hotel on July 6 and had been expected to check out on the 13th. When he had not done so, hotel staff checked his room and found him deceased.
