Wendy Williams' Health Deteriorated Even More: Will It Cause Her to Leave Show For Good?
Wendy Williams might lose her hosting seat soon as her health seemingly continues to deteriorate.
The "Wendy Williams Show" recently replaced the original host for the whole month of February and named Michael Rapaport, Sherri Shepherd, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Bevy Smith, and Terrence J as the temporary hosts. But as buzzes about Williams' further absence from the show emerged, the program decided to make Shepherd the new permanent guest host.
PEOPLE cited a news outlet and claimed that the guest host would take over the show starting September.
Amid the drastic changes on the show, a show's insider recently shed some light on Williams' current health status, seemingly hinting that it has gotten worse that the recovery period takes longer than expected.
"It's not been easy. It's going to take some time and some work. Don't expect her back this year. She's not ready to host a show now, and that's what matters. She's not there yet. It's not fair and not fair to her audience. They deserve 100 percent Wendy," a source said, per The Hollywood Reporter.
What Happened to Wendy Williams?
Williams' condition led her to skip the show for months.
For what it's worth, she was diagnosed with immune system disorder, Graves' disease, which leads to overproduction of thyroid hormones or hyperthyroidism. Her bulging eyes also confirmed that she still got the disease.
Williams' thyroid disease, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, can reportedly cause severe problems if left untreated.
Aside from her real health status, she got bombarded with buzzes that she was experiencing early-onset dementia. Her younger brother, Tommy, quickly debunked the claims and said they do not have concerns regarding her mental state.
"Wendy continues to be under medical supervision and meets with her medical team on a daily basis," the show said at the time. "She is making progress but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves' Disease and her thyroid condition."
With her return remains unclear, Williams made sure people know she is happy with the show's choice to let Shepherd spearhead the show. In fact, she reportedly feels grateful to everyone who served as interim hosts.
