The Tinder Swindler, Shimon Hayut, may be a lot of things, but a con-man, he asserts, he is not.

In an interview with Inside Edition, Hayut refuted the claims that he was anything but a, "legit businessman." According to an article on The Hollywood Reporter, the series followed this man, Shimon Hayut, who, much like the plight of Anna Delvey, went by the name Simon Leviev who posed on the frequently-used dating app as the son of Lev Leviev, the diamond mogul. He then pretended to be in danger and ultimately conned multiple young women out of millions of dollars.

"Conned," however, is a word that Hayut takes some issue with.

In his Inside Edition interview he said, "They weren't conned and they weren't threatened"." Furthermore, Hayut claims that he never pretended to be Leviev's son. All in all, the only thing he truly feels bad for is, "I feel bad for whatever happened to myself. I want to clear my name. I want to say to the world, 'This is not true.'"

Furthermore, he traces his claims of being a, "legit businessman," back to early investments made in cryptocurrency back in 2011. "I'm a legit business man. I invested in Bitcoin back in 2011 when it was nothing." Hayut's current girlfriend stands behind these claims.

Hayut's girlfriend, Kate Konlin, stands behind him, siding with the Tinder Swindler himself. Konlin, an Isralei model, was equally as shocked as her partner. When asked what she made of the women who came forward for the documentary, she said, "My God, it's like, how [can] someone build such a fake story?" Furthermore, she went on to assert that no, Hayut has never borrowed money from her.
