Hope Solo, the former US Women's National Team goaltender, was arrested for alleged DWI.

Hope Solo Arrested: Athlete Endangers Own Child?

The more pressing matter is that she was with her daugther when it happened. Essentially, she's deemed to have endangered her own child, so she's also charged with child abuse.

The Winston-Salem Police Department confirmed Hope Solo's arrest to Hollywood Life on Thursday. In Winston-Salem, NC, officers nabbed the retired soccer star "in the parking lot of a business located at 3475 Parkway Village Circle."

Reportedly, she was charged with DWI, resisting arrest, and child abuse. Hope, who is married to former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens, had her 2-year-old twins Lozen and Vitto in the car at the time of the alleged DWI.

She was processed and released from the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. "No further information will be given due to the pending prosecution," the Winston-Salem Police Department stated.

On the advice of counsel, Hope can't speak about this situation, Rich Nichols revealed on Twitter. He also said that the athlete just want everyone to know that her kids are safe.

She was released immediately so she's now with her family, Nichols added.

Hope's lawyer noted that "the tale is more sympathetic than the original charges suggest," and the athlete is raring for the chance to defend herself as soon as possible.

Hope Solo Arrested in 2014 for Hitting Nephew

This is not the first time that Hope Solo got into trouble with the law though.

Hope was arrested in 2014 for allegedly hitting her sister and nephew. According to the New York Post, she was placed into the South County Correctional Jail in Washington State. Kirkland decided that the incident was "unlikely to recur" and dropped the charges in 2018.

The present arrest comes less than a month after Hope Solo went viral for her comments about the US Women's National Team on her podcast, "Hope Solo Speaks." She said she just wanted to be honest about how bad the team culture was on the national team. She even said that every time she needed to leave for camp, her husband would see her sad and hated what was happening to her.

"Every time I left for camp, my husband Jerramy hated to see me sad," explained Solo. "I didn't want to go to the social aspect of camp. I wanted to train my ass off. I wanted to work my butt off. I wanted to play games. But I didn't want to be around everybody and the culture of the team. It was really difficult. I don't think people understand how difficult emotionally and mentally that is."
