Word From the Ton? 'Bridgerton' Cast Members Give Their Best Guesses On What Seasons 3 And 4 Hold In Store!
Bridgerton season two was the excellent phenomenon we all hoped it would be. Now, fans of the Regency-era romance are looking ahead to seasons three and four, eager to get as much intel about what Lady Whistledown could be reporting next as possible.
At this point, it seems the cast of this incredible show are as in-the-dark as we are about the upcoming fates of our favorite characters. However, according to an article on The Hollywood Reporter, it seems they also share some of our hopes and dreams for the coming seasons.
(WARNING: SPOILERS FOR BRIDGERTON SEASON 2 ABOUND BELOW.)
Luke Newton, the actor who plays Colin Bridgerton, hopes that the next season picks up in the palpable aftermath of his disregard for ever courting Penelope, played by Nicola Coughlan. This desire stems largely from the actor's own curiosity to know what is going to happen.
"I really want to know more, and I don't want to annoy people by sending messages to writers to find out what's going on."
Coughlan herself also has her share of curiosities, but a large aspect of her wonderment is attached to her fate and upcoming trails as Lady Whistledown:
"I'm deeply curious...What she's been through, I imagine it would harden her. In this season she's very much on a journey where you see the success of how Whistledown is impacting her in ways she doesn't realize...
"I think she's fallen pretty much as low as she can get, losing Eloise, Losing Colin. Whistledown's all she's got. I imagine it's going to be very interesting, where we see her starting off season three."
Eloise's discovery of Penelope as Lady Whistledown led the two best friends into a horrific fight. Claudia Jessie, the actress who plays the moxie-filled Eloise Bridgerton, hopes, as most of us do, to see Eloise delve deeply into the world of politics she started to explore in this season:
"I really hope she gets political...That'd be the person who we'd want to watch do that as well, right? Exploring different thoughts, different ideas, different parts of society. I'd love to see that really explained - because, at the moment, she's just sucking in information, isn't she? She's been a bit of a sponge, but I'd love her to find a clear objective and to become political."
One thing viewers can count on seeing more of in the coming seasons is the heartstring-pulling relationship between Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton, played by the incredible Ashley Simone and Jonathan Bailey.
Now Vicount and Vicountess Bridgerton, the two are excited to see what challenges are presented to their characters in years to come. Bailey shared:
"They're not simple people. I know they will work as a unit, and I know he'll be completely devoted to her, so I'm excited to see that and to explore [that].
"In the book and source material, there's so much about her past and his past, so seeing maybe perhaps conversations where they acknowledge that further, and they have a really rich connection, just exploring that a bit further will be great.
"The payoff of the slow burn, I think, will continue for the years to come."
We are still unsure if the seasons of Bridgerton will continue to follow the chronology of the book series by Julia Quinn, but, if they do, we can expect to see Benedict as the season three lead, and Colin as the season four lead.
However, nothing is set in stone - we will just have to wait and see!
