Season 2 of the CW's Arrow already has some shocking new additions that have recently been announced.

On a conference call on Tuesday, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg announced a DC Comics superhero who will be entering Starling City- Dr. Barry Allen, also known as The Flash.

"When you first meet Barry Allen, he's just a forensic scientist working for the Starling City Police Department so, he's just an ordinary man," Kreisberg said.

Dr.Allen, who has not been cast yet, will start out as a regular man and later, his life "gets a little bit faster" as he transforms into the well-known superhero.

"Our characters that people have come to know and like in 'Arrow' will react to the extraordinary changes to their world hopefully in a very realistic way," Kreisberg added. "These 'powers' won't be treated as common place on the show. They will be extraordinary events and the world and our characters in them will react accordingly."

During 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, the executive producers announced on July 20 that the Black Canary will also be a new character this season. Over speculation that the Canary will be played by Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), on Tuesday morning, CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed it will actually be Laurel's sister Sara Lance and she will be played by Caity Loitz (The Pact). On the pilot, Sara was expected to be dead since the start of the season. Since she was Oliver's lover, she will sure bring some drama between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Laurel.

In addition to new characters, the "Arrow Cave," has been redesigned by Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) since damage was done during the finale. (Click here to view the photo).

Episode 1 of season 2 will be titled "City of Heroes," and according to Spoiler TV, it will introduce a new character named Adam Donner. He will be Starling City's new Assistant District Attorney, meaning he will be Laurel's boss.

The second season of Arrow will air Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EST. Watch a clip from Comic-Con below.
