'American Horror Story: Coven' Spoilers: Alexandra Breckenridge Returns for Season 3; Kathy Bates' Character Revealed [VIDEO]
Another season 1 regular is joining American Horror Story for its third season.
American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted Friday that Alexandra Breckenridge would be joining the cast of the show's third installment, subtitled Coven. Breckenridge played young Moira O'Hara, the maid.

It is unknown at this time if Breckenridge will be playing one of the main characters, but considering production has already begun on the new series, it is likely that she is either recurring or a guest star.
The news that Breckenridge will be returning for season 3 comes less than a week after Murphy announced another season 1 regular would be returning: Denis O'Hare, who played burn victim Larry Harvey.
Taissa Farmiga, who played Violet Harmon in the first season, is also returning for season 3 after taking season 2 off. Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe and Frances Conroy are all returning for Coven after appearing as different characters in the series' first two installments.

The other big news to come out Friday is the identity of Kathy Bates' character for Coven. Bates will be playing a real-life person named Marie Delphine LaLaurie, a 19th century New Orleans socialite, according to a report by Zap2It. The socialite, who was often known as Madame LaLaurie, tortured and killed numerous black slaves in her mansion.

Additionally, the report revealed that Angela Bassett will be playing a real-life person as well: a voodoo priestess named Marie Laveau. Laveau also lived in New Orleans during the 19th century. It had been reported that American Horror Story: Coven would be taking place in the present day, so it is unknown if the show will be skipping through time or if Bates and Bassett will be playing modern-day versions of their characters.
American Horror Story: Coven is scheduled to premiere in October on FX.
