'Love And Hip-Hop Atlanta' Season 2 Reunion Star K Michelle Evicted? Ditched Apt For 'Love & Hip-Hop New York' Move
VH1's Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta star K Michelle may have to attend a court hearing to settle an outstanding rent debt.
The day after K Michelle announced during the season 2 finale of LHHA that she was moving to New York to appear in an upcoming season of Love & Hip Hop New York, her Atlanta landlord filed a petition seeking the past due amount for two months of rent. (The episode aired on Monday, July 29.)
According to Rodney Ho of TheAJC's Radio/TV Talk, a petition was filed against K Michelle in the Fulton County magistrate court by Jason Lapene on Aug. 1. The reality star allegedly owes $6,450 for 2 months of back rent plus late fees. The monthly rent is $2,400 per month. Lapene also seeks an additional $1,250 in filing and administrative fees.
Lapene told Rodney Ho that K Michelle began renting the apartment in October, 2012, and she put in a request to move out early. Hhe agreed provided she paid her rent before she moved out. K Michelle moved out on July 12.
"I was trying to accommodate her," Lapene told Ho. "But she just disappeared and didn't give me the keys. I don't even know what the deal is. She didn't tell me she was leaving and made it difficult for me to sell the unit. She made it miserable for me."
K Michelle responded to the report on Instagram on Aug. 1: "Breaking News in America: Kmichelle refuses to pay June/July rent on her Atlanta Condo, that she's moved out of for over 4 months. Shower not working, no rent. Very Simple. So TMZ, AJC, or whatever else blog that my landlord has running this story for money and attention my statement is as follows: 0 F*cks given remember to buy my album Rebellious Soul August 13."
K Michelle isn't the only reality star facing a landlord in court. Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta season 5 breakout star Kenya Moore has also been accussed of not paying her rent.
Moore's former landlord Conya Dillon filed original eviction papers against the reality star on June 5. Moore fell short on her rent payment for the month of May, she wrote in the document. Moore was renting a six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion but fell short by $848 on her monthly rent of $3,999 for the mansion in Roswell, Ga. The landlord sought the outstanding amount, rent for the month of June and $2,500 for eviction fees and damages. A Fulton County judge in Georgia ruled in favor of Dillon on June 18. Moore and her attorney did not attend the hearing and filed a motion to delay the eviction on June 19, saying she did not receive a notice of the court date.
Enstars reported that RadarOnline learned that during Moore's final hearing on July 9, both she and Dillon were victorious in their bitter court battle. No details were provided.
