True Blood will be getting back to its core cast in season 7, according to recent comments by one of the series regulars.

Nelsan Ellis, who has played the flamboyant Lafayette for six seasons on the show, told Vulture in a Wednesday report that the show would be simpler going forward.

"We're going back to the core," Ellis explained. "I think this season set the stage to get back to the core." When asked if that means there would be more Lafayette, the actor promised: "Next season."

Ellis admitted that even as "a person who had read the script and shot it" he was confused with so many the vampires, werewolves and other supernatural creatures" last season.

"Last season was a bit schizophrenic, with like fifteen storylines," he said. "Even when I watched the show, I'd get confused as to what's going on. There was a lot happening in 51 minutes."

In other True Blood spoiler news, a new trailer was posted recently on YouTube. The trailer shows various scenes from the next episode, Life Matters, with the voice of Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) saying a prayer.

"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for thou art with me," Sarah says with a shaky voice. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life."

Through her voiceover, various scenes from the next episode flash, including Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and their fellow prisoners at Vampire Camp looking upward as the roof uncovers, revealing sunlight.
