The Mentalist will be seeing several changes this season, including the loss of two cast members.

Actors Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti will reportedly be departing the show in the coming months, according to TV Line.

The pair portray Special Agent Wayne Rigsby and Special Agent Grace Van Pelt on Agent Lisbon's (Robin Tunney) CBI team. Occasionally romantically linked, the characters have been on the CBS show since the beginning.

"I can neither confirm or deny, but this is the most dramatic and game-changing season and anything can happen," said series creator Bruno Heller, according to the Huffington Post.

With Lisbon and Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) closing in on the true identity of Red John, the entire show has been thrown into a topsy-turvy state. As The Mentalist works toward a possible conclusion, the episodes will take on more a serialized format instead of the familiar crime of the week formula.

In the meantime there will be room for the writers to explore the intense relationships between Lisbon and Jane as well as Rigsby and Van Pelt.

They've always been in love with each other," Heller told Entertainment Weekly. "As we get closer to Red John, all of the team members will start thinking about their major life decisions. That applies to both Lisbon [Robin Tunney's character] and Grace. They haven't been able to look to their own feelings. As the show rolls on, those feelings will come to the fore."

The Mentalist returns Sept. 29 on CBS.
