To the excitement of its loyalists, CW's The Vampire Diaries continues to gear up for its highly anticipated fifth installment, which will be making its return in the fall.

To the fans' fortune, they won't have to wait it out to get their first glimpse of the most recent human to grace Mystic Falls in Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev).

Director Joshua Butler had taken to Twitter on Aug. 13 to post an image of Katherine for the upcoming season.

"Katherine Pierce, brought to life by @NinaDobrev, in all her tragic #beauty, #DirectorPride #TVD 5x02," he wrote.

Fans will undoubtedly experience some big alterations ahead in terms of TVD storylines, as the fourth season ended with Silas as the doppleganger of Stefan (Paul Wesley). Also, the group graduated from high school and Elena giving Katherine the vampire cure.

Actress Kat Graham, who'll be returning to the show as a ghost version of Bonnie, recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter on Aug. 14 about what fans can expect in the upcoming season from her now deceased character.

"The show starts off where it left off, where the only person that can see her is Jeremy because he can see dead people," she said.
