Modern Family Season 5 Premiere Spoilers: Mitch and Cam Get Married?; The Cast Hints at What to Expect [VIDEO]
The teaser for the fifth season of Modern Family has been released. "What's the Question?" is the tag-line and the clip just highlights various members of the cast saying, "Yes!"
It was also revealed that the premiere (airing Sept. 25) will deal with same-sex marriage and the recent Supreme court ruling on the subject. The trailer and the recent news have led fans to believe that Mitch or Cam might pop the question and a marriage is in the cards.
In recent interviews, cast members Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Eric Stonestreet, did drop some hints about what fans can expect from the upcoming season-- but they didn't give away anything about the lingering question.
Cam will be getting a new job. "Cam loses his job, or not loses his job, he is eliminated due to budget cuts as a music teacher so I become a high-school substitute. Mitchell's having a lot of trouble at his work. There is a lot of employment shifting going on," Stonestreet said in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Burrell is hoping to spend some more time with his on-screen dad, Fred Willard. "I hope that leads to some more Fred Willard-ness in the show, and I believe that it will," he said. "I'm not sure exactly how that's going to play out, but we all love getting to play around with Fred. I suspect there will be more of that."
The last season addressed the death of Phil Dunphy's mother but the sadness will not be carried forward to this season. Bowen suggested that things will not be getting too serious. "In true comedy fashion, we left our tears at the end of that episode, and we moved on very easily," she said in an interview with Access Hollywood.
Season 5 also welcomes Adam DeVine (Workaholics, Pitch Perfect) as a recurring guest star on the show. DeVine will play nanny to Manny and baby Joe. Loyd described DeVine's character as "being fun and matches Gloria's energy in the house. But he doesn't want to just take care of the baby. He wants to sort of revive the entire household, which leads to some territorial clashes with Jay and Manny ."
Season 5 of the hit ABC show will premiere on Sep. 25.
