Nick Wechsler's character on Revenge as Jack Porter will face many obstacles in season 3 of the ABC series, showrunner Sunil Nayar told Entertainment Weekly.

Porter in season 2 saw his wife and brother die and leave him with a newborn baby that he must raise alone. His one true friend Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) turned on him and got engaged to someone from the Grayson family, all of whom he considers responsible for him suffering in life. On top of everything, in the season 2 finale Emily revealed to Jack that she is actually his former childhood best friend and has been posing as someone else the whole time.

The season 3 premiere will feature Jack returning to his home at the Stowaway and the ghosts of his past in the Hamptons. Nayar told the publication that Jack has a difficult road ahead of him.

"He has an absolute lot to synthesize for himself and, especially as a person who is so inherently moral and good, to have so much bad and betrayal enacted upon him has been a journey," Nayar said. "When we see him in the premiere, he's obviously still on that journey, but also has asked himself a lot of questions and come up with answers to a few."

The question remains why did Jack return to a town that haunts him and is full of people that took away so much in his life. Nayar said, "you will get a sense of why that is and the other thing is, there's a real connection to the Stowaway."

"It's the bar his father created and it is where the memories of those he's loved and lost lived," the showrunner explained. "It's the one anchor he has. In some ways, it represents his past, what happened with Emily represents his present and Carl represents his future."
