'Hannibal' Season 2 Spoilers: Will Goes To Trial, Jack Investigates Hannibal VIDEO
The Hannibal writers threw fans a curve ball during the season finale, a plot twist that will inform the course of season 2.
During "Savoureux" Will Graham awoke, vomiting up the ear of the deceased Abigail Hobb (Kacey Rohl), the only person who had successfully realized that Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) was the copycat killer; the FBI's Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) arrests Graham. Following a breakout, Will accuses Hannibal of the crimes. However, Jack shoots Will and has him committed to the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
"He will be incarcerated, and we will be dealing with all of the threads of that. We need to see all of the things happen that would happen in that scenario. Will Graham needs to go on trial for the murders that he may or may not have committed," said series creator Brian Fuller, according to TV Guide.
Who Will Defend Will Graham When Hannibal returns?
Meanwhile, viewers will see Will create his own universe while he is trapped behind bars. The A.V. Club states that the character will develop a version of Hannibal's "Mind Palace" that Thomas Harris detailed in his novels. During his incarceration, Fuller says Jack will take the initiative to look over Will's accusations against Hannibal.
"In Season 2, Jack will be investigating those accusations. I think after Will woke up from getting shot by Jack and before he was put into the institution, he shared his theories about Hannibal," Fuller stated, according to TV Guide. Now it's up to those characters and Hannibal Lecter to either support or deny those accusations in a properly investigated way."
Season 2 of Hannibal will air on NBC.
