Love was in the air on the season 4 premiere of A&E's Duck Dynasty, as Phil Robertson and Miss Kay had renewed their wedding vows. However, it turns out that their romance hasn't always gone smoothly.

According to the National Enquirer, the couple had gone their separate ways for three months, which also led to Phil leaving his kids.

When the patriarch was in his 20s, he was said to have leased a hole-in-the-wall bar, but when the people who owned it attempted to raise the rent, Phil got into a scuffle with them. To top it off, he ended up beating them up so badly that they had to be brought to the hospital, which is when he left the state.

While in attendance at a recent benefit that took place in Dallas, Phil's son Willie elaborated on the less than ideal circumstance, according to Radar Online.

"State troopers were searching for him, so he runs into the woods and lives in the woods for four months running from the law," he said.

The site also stated that Miss Kay, who was 15-years-old at the time of the incident, coerced the bar owners to not filing criminal charges. However, they did get a restraining order against Phil.

"You would never guess it from watching the show because Phil and Miss Kay are still so much in love and devoted to each other. She stood by him when he was drinking and staying out all night, but he came very close to losing everything. Miss Kay was so sick of Phil that she wanted a divorce," said a source.
