Emily Thorne's devious scheming against the Graysons will be somewhat different in season 3 of Revenge due to the fact that Jack Porter now knows her true identity, the showrunner said.

The season 2 finale ended with Emily revealing to Jack that she is really Amanda Clarke, his childhood sweetheart and best friend. The revelation was a major turning point in the show, being that very few people know who Emily really is and her true intentions for getting close to the Graysons.

In season 3 she will continue to get revenge against the family she holds responsible for her father's death, but showrunner Sunil Nayar explained that her takedowns are back with a twist.

"We're going to use them to explore who Emily is a little bit more than we've had a chance to in the past," he said. "We're 44 hours into the show now. She's experienced so many different things, culminating in the revelation of who she [really] is to Jack. We're examining not just who she is and what happiness means to her, but what are the ramifications of her plans are. Because now there's someone who knows. And that's going to have an impact on Emily. So the takedowns are still going to be wonderful, but they're also going to have a deeper meaning and a deeper effect."

Nayar said in a previous interview that Jack will return to his home at the Stoweaway but faces some ghosts from his past in season 3. It has not been confirmed if he will attend Emily's wedding to Daniel Grayson, which will take place in the premiere episode as a a flash-forward five months ahead.

Revenge season 3 premieres on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. The first episode will be titled Fear and stars the show's newest cast member Justin Hartley, who plays Victoria Grayson's son Patrick Harper.
