'Person of Interest' Season 3 Premiere: Where is the Machine Set To Expand 'Beyond Parameters'? [VIDEO & Details]
Many new spoilers were released regarding the upcoming third season of Person of Interest.
POI executive producer Greg Plageman spoke to TVLine in a Tuesday report regarding the Machine and many of the main characters.
Plageman said that the location of the Machine "is not of paramount importance." Instead, viewers should ask, "What is it up to? What sort of organism is it becoming? And is it expanding beyond the parameters of what even Finch [(Michael Emerson)] designed?"
In the season 2 finale, the Machine called Root (new series regular Amy Acker), who was institutionalized in an asylum. The Machine asked Root, "Can you hear me?" in a series of disjointed voices.

As season 3 picks up, Hersh's (Boris McGiver) boss, who is referred to as Control and may be identified in a November episode, will become interested in finding The Machine. Control "is very interested in what happened to the Machine, and considers Root instrumental in perhaps finding it," Plageman explained.
Meanwhile, Shaw (new series regular Sarah Shahi) remains "disillusioned" by the government betraying her and therefore "isn't giving her allegiance to anyone right now," but will "help out when she feels like it."

Finally, Plageman revealed that there will be a lot of good material ahead for Taraji P. Henson as Detective Carter.
When season 3 picks up, Carter will be "out there on the wing a bit, trying to figure out her next move." There will be a lot of back-story for Carter, revealing "what happened in her personal past, and how she wound up where she is today."
Season 3 of Person of Interest is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
