The premiere date of Supernatural season 9 is drawing ever nearer and now fans can watch a sneak peek with commentary by the producers.

When viewers last saw the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) had just convinced Sam (Jared Padalecki) not to sacrifice himself in order to close the gates of Hell. While the boys held Crowley (Mark Sheppard) captive to complete the third trial, Castiel (Misha Collins) accidentally helped Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) to oust the angels from heaven at the cost of Cas' grace.

With no king presiding over Hell, a ridiculously large number of disgruntled angels roaming Earth, an extremely ill Sam and Abaddon (Alaina Huffman) looking to dethrone Crowley, the Supernatural universe will be in sever disarray when "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here" picks up minutes after the end of "Sacrifice."

However, this chaos makes a perfect atmosphere for the return of some long gone characters. While it had previously been confirmed that Bobby (Jim Beaver) and Charlie Bradbury (Felicia Day) would be returning, it now appears Death (Julian Richings) will come to visit as well.

Dean To Reunite With an Old Flame on Supernatural

Scenes from the promo show Sam in the hospital while Dean asks for help from an unseen savior. While Death has helped the brothers in the past, could he be the one to save Sam once more? Whoever Dean strikes a deal with, the decision to do so will leave him feeling extremely guilty.
