When NCIS: Los Angeles returns from its summer hiatus, two of the team's agents are going to need a little TLC.

Sam (LL Cool J) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) may have physically survived being tortured at the hands of Siderov (Timothy V. Murphy) but the pair will each have trouble dealing with the emotional fallout of "Descent."

To help them out, operational psychologist Nate Getz (Peter Cambor) will be returning from his long absence. The good doctor will appear in the second episode of the season, joining the rest of the team following a lengthy time jump after the events of the premiere.

"If an agent goes through anything like what we are putting these agents through, they have to have counseling," series creator Shane Brennan said, according to Xfinity. "Yes, Nate makes a return in Episode 2. It won't be the last time we see him this season."

Deeks will probably be seeing Nate more then some of his coworkers. Olsen has stated that Deeks will be greatly affected by his unwanted dental surgery and he will have a lot of difficulty getting past it.

Nate's comeback episode, which is titled "Impact," will feature an investigation regarding the demise of a Navy Admiral and a journalist, according to Carter Matt. However, the procedural aspect will probably mostly serve as a backdrop to observe the changes wrought on the characters as viewers see them back at work for the first time.

NCIS: LA will return to CBS on Sept. 24.
