TV personality Bill Nye, who will be appearing on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, spoke out recently about his excitement in participating in the show.

Nye told Entertainment Weekly recently that he was both "nervous" and "terrified" to be participating on DWTS this fall. However, he's already getting along with his pro dancing partner, Tyne Stecklein.

"She's extraordinary," Nye told Entertainment Weekly, referring to Stecklein. "I guess they all are. She's a professional athlete at a world-class level. When you're around these people, first of all it's moving. But it's also unsettling because it doesn't look real, it's so far out of your everyday experience. Wow. The other thing is, she's an outstanding instructor. I'm honored."

Nye, who is mostly known as the host of popular '90s children's show Bill Nye the Science Guy, said that he might be incorporating science gear in his dances this season.

"I will be wearing my Planetary Society lapel pin. Oh, the costumes are just out of freakin' hand. I gotta say, they're just cool," Nye admitted. "I mean there's a bow tie, and there's a lab coat, and it's all blinged. They love the bling. I'm in, man, hit me the ball, let's go!"

Nye revealed that some of the past contestants on DWTS have inspired him, including athletes Jerry Rice, Kristie Yamaguchi and Apollo Anton Ohno. The science instructor admitted that he's got his eye on some of his biggest competitors this season, including ex-NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, Pretty Little Liars star Brant Daugherty and Jersey Shore favorite Snooki.

Nye will compete in season 17 of Dancing With the Stars when it premieres on Monday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
