Netflix's hit series, House of Cards, continues to change the landscape of scripted television programming as the world knows it, allowing its users to view the political hit at their own convenience.

The show has received a whopping nine Emmy nominations, the first ever for a program that has main its home primarily on the web.

Netflix CEO spoke to NBC News about the pivotal role that HoC has played in modern day TV, which he feels became official once the show was nominated.

"What they have seen here is an initiative that started not very long ago, and that has had pop culture success and critical success. The next shoe to drop was the credibility that came from the Emmy nominations. People know this is not a one-off now. It attracts people who are attracted to forward momentum," he explained.

Well known actor/comedian Ricky Gervais, who'll be debuting a comedy of his own called Derek on the respective network, touched on the modern day alterations occurring in scripted programming.

"TV habits have been changing drastically over the last 10 years and it's been exponential in the last five years," he said.

While no air date for House of Cards has yet to be determined, the show is projected to start its second season at some point in early 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest news on the popular series.
