'Breaking Bad' Spinoff 'Better Call Saul' Details: AMC Series to Feature Gus Fring? [VIDEO]
One of the more popular Breaking Bad characters may be appearing in the recently announced spinoff series.
Ginacarlo Esposito, who played Gus Fring in multiple seasons of Breaking Bad, revealed Thursday that he would be interested in appearing in the show's spinoff, Better Call Saul.
"I love my Breaking Bad family and would welcome the chance to work with them again if given the opportunity," Esposito told TheWrap Thursday. Gus could easily make an appearance in Better Call Saul, since it is a prequel to the events that occurred in Breaking Bad.
Gus famously died in the season 4 finale after getting half his face blown off and calmly readjusting his tie. The complex role garnered an Emmy nomination for Esposito in 2012 but he lost to co-star Aaron Paul (who plays Jesse Pinkman).
Better Call Saul features fan favorite Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), the slimy lawyer with a knack for getting his clients out of sticky situations. AMC announced that they had picked up the spinoff series Wednesday after months of speculation by fans and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan.
Gilligan told TheWrap in July that he would love to work with Esposito in the future.
"Any chance I get to work with Giancarlo again, I would jump at the opportunity. He is a wonderful actor and such a sweet guy," Gilligan said.
The premiere date for Better Call Saul is not known at this time as the series is still in the development stage. Breaking Bad is currently wrapping its final eight episodes on AMC.
