Brooks, who plays the role of inmate Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson in Orange is the New Black, revealed the casting news to Ebony:
"Of course you're going to get to see a lot of Taystee in season two and I just shot an episode of Girls for HBO. I will be the first Black woman to be on Girls, so that's exciting for me. Other than that I just don't know. I'm hoping Melissa McCarthy will hit a sister up."
Recently it was also announced that Sonic Youth alum Kim Gordon will be guest starring on the show.
Allison Williams, who plays Marnie in the show, hinted at the direction the show will be taking over the course of the third season, saying that it would be "light-hearted" and "very funny." She also suggested that fans would get to see different dimensions of all the girls.
Williams divulged about her character's romantic situation as well. While Marnie was still trying to get back with Charlie (Christopher Abbott) in the last season, seems like the break-up will stick as Abbott is no longer on the show. Williams spoke about the kind of guy Marnie should be seeing. "[She needs] someone who respects her but she would have to start respecting herself," she said.
Williams' suggestions are corroborated by the teaser of the season, which sets a buoyant mood with a fast-moving series of mostly behind-the-scenes pictures full of wide smiles, goofy expressions, warm hugs and colorful wardrobes. There is also a whole lot of colorful vibrant beach wear.
