'Survivor: Blood vs. Water' Premiere Recap: Returning Players Battle Loved Ones & Three Sent to Redemption Island [VIDEO]
The first episode of Survivor: Blood vs. Water aired Wednesday featuring 10 returning players coming back with one of their loved ones.
Returning Players: Aras Baskauskas, Candice Cody, Colton Cumbie, Gervase Peterson, Kat Edorsson, Laura Morett, Monica Culpepper, Rupert Boneham, Tina Wesson and Tyson Apostol
Loved Ones: Brad Culpepper, Caleb Bankston, Ciera Eastin, Hayden Moss, John Cody, Katie Collins, Laura Boneham, Marissa Peterson, Rachel Foulger and Vytas Baskauskas
The pairs were dropped off in ten different locations for the first night. They then gathered the following morning at which point host Jeff Probst revealed that they would be playing on different tribes from their loved ones.
Probst then informed them that each tribe would be voting someone out right away. Rupert was shocked to see that the loved ones tribe voted out his wife, Laura B., unanimously. Laura B. became the first person voted out of the game. The vote was closer on the returning players tribe with 4 votes for Laura M. and 5 votes for Candice. Candice became the second person voted out.
Probst then revealed that Candice and Laura B. would be going to Redemption Island for another chance to stay in the game. He said that Rupert or Candice's husband John could take their place on Redemption Island. John declined the offer but Rupert elected to take his wife's place, and she took Rupert's spot in the returning players' tribe.
At the tribes' camps, the returning players got off to a comfortable start with Tyson immediately making fire for his fellow returning players. Colton said that he was going to try to be a better person in the game after his rocky first season.
On the loved ones tribe, Brad made an alliance with the rest of his male tribemates, Caleb, Hayden, John and Vytas. The fivesome agreed to stick together and vote out the four girls.
The tribes then competed in their first Immunity Challenge. The challenge involved six members of each tribe swimming out into the ocean to grab puzzle pieces. They then brought them back to the three other members, who were tasked with assembling a wheel. Though the loved ones tribe got off to an early start, the returning players took home the victory in the end. The loved ones were turned off by Gervase's gloating after his tribe won.
The guys alliance agreed that they would get back at Gervase by voting out Marissa, his niece. At Tribal Council, Marissa was voted out 8-1, sending her to Redemption Island.
The next episode of Survivor: Blood vs. Water will air on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
