Orange Is The New Black's Laverne Cox, who dons the role of Sophia Burset, has been using her success from the hit Netflix series to open up new horizons for the transgender community.

Amongst other things, the actress spoke to Access Hollywood on Sept. 18 about her rising popularity, which she admits has allowed her more perks than she's ever previously had in the past.

"It's crazy! I was at a party last week and I was like, 'Three months ago I probably wouldn't have been able to get into this party.' It's important for me to remember that. It's important for me to remember where I've come from, and that the reason I'm here is because of amazing writing on a show that's really connected with people in a real way, and because of years of work as well on my craft as an actress," she said.

Along with the praise she has for the creative brass, Cox also added that she's very thankful for the fans and how they've been reacting to her Sophia.

"I'm just so happy people are responding to the show the way that they are responding to my character and my work the way the way they are," she continued.

Orange Is The New Black will start its second season at some point in 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest information on the series. A preview video can be viewed below.
