America's Got Talent winner Kenichi Ebina admitted recently that he's still in shock over winning the talent competition series.

Ebina's expressive dance moves made him an early frontrunner on the latest season of America's Got Talent, and his popularity only increased with time. The dancer told USA Today in a Thursday interview that he was surprised when host Nick Cannon announced he was the winner on Wednesday night's finale.

"Basically, my mind was like blank," Ebina said. "Then two seconds later, I was like, 'Oh my god.' And then a couple of seconds later, 'Oh, what am I going to do?'"

He admitted that he did not believe he could win against his competition, citing opera trio Forte and comedian Taylor Williamson as more likely to take the title.

"Performance-wise from the finals, I thought definitely those two. I was hoping to be third or fourth." Ebina said. "I don't know what's up with America, right?"

Along with bragging rights, Ebina will receive $1 million for winning the competition in addition to his own show in Las Vegas.

Judge Howie Mandel, who has been Ebina's most vocal supporter this season on the judging panel, revealed his excitement over the dancer's win in his latest column for Parade magazine.

"Let's just be honest," Mandel wrote, "the fact is that we've never had this caliber of talent, and we as judges identified it early, and I think America got on board. America did the right thing."

The judge said that he hadn't seen anyone like Ebina ever and commended his abilities in incorporating dancing, choreography, miming, comedy and video. Mandel concluded that he was "bursting with pride" at being a part of a show with such great talent.

Season 9 of America's Got Talent is expected to air in summer 2014.
