'Dancing With the Stars' Season 17, Week 2 Preview: Latin-Themed Night with Bill Nye in Danger of Elimination? [VIDEOS]
The second episode of Dancing With the Stars season 17 airs Monday night on ABC and will feature the celebrity dancers performing a Latin-themed dance.
The official press release for the episode states that the stars will either perform the Samba, Jive, Rumba or Paso for Week 2. After all 12 stars have performed with their partners, host Tom Bergeron will reveal the couple who has been eliminated first from the competition.
The first elimination will be decided by a combination of the judges' scores from the stars' first and second performances in addition to America's vote from premiere week. Whichever couple faces the lowest score with all of these factors combined will be the first elimination of the season.
On premiere night, many celebrities emerged as possible frontrunners: Glee star Amber Riley, High School Musical's Corbin Bleu and Saved by the Bell alum Elizabeth Berkley. All three celebrities received rave reviews from the judges and a score of at least 24 out of 30 or higher. All three should be safe from elimination Monday night.
As for the celebrities who may be in trouble this week, a male will likely be the first to leave the competition. Television personality Bill Nye, former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson and comedian Bill Engvall received the lowest score from the judges on premiere night and were not given much positive criticism.
Nye has a passionate fanbase on the Internet, so that alone may carry him through to next week, assuming they voted for him to stay. However, he did have the lowest score of premiere night (14 out of 30) and will need to be stronger in Week 2 in order to boost his score beyond the bottom 3.
Johnson and Engvall may have to step up their dances even more, considering they may not be the most popular celebrities of this group.
Tune in to Dancing With the Stars Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC to see all 12 celebrities perform another dance as well as the first elimination of the season.
