With barely two weeks to go before the season 9 premiere, the cast of Supernatural is still dropping hints at what's in store for the Winchester brothers.

"Season 9 is our best season in a long, long, long time," teased Jared Padalecki (Sam) in a new Facebook video. We have a lot of cool, new characters; some great, old, throwback characters; and just a really great, strong storyline."

Reentering the Supernatural scene are Bobby (Jim Beaver), Charlie Bradbury (Felicia Day), and possibly Garth (DJ Qualls). The deceased Bobby will make an appearance in the premiere, "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here," while Charlie will show up in episode 4, "Slumber Party." New characters include two fallen angels, Ezekiel (Tahmoh Penikett) and Hael; Haggerty (Gildart Jackson), an early Men of Letters member; and Nora, a single mother in episode 7, "Heaven Can't Wait," who may be recurring, according to Spoiler TV.

While Padalecki is excited for the new season, his character is a bit oblivious to the resumption of his storyline considering the younger Winchester is unconscious in the hospital when the premiere picks up.

"The most exciting thing for me about season 9 is finding out how Sam got out of this last predicament," Padalecki said in reference to the hunter's trial-related illness.

Sam may have decided not to sacrifice his life in order to close the Gate of Hell, but he is still paying dearly for his choice. With his brother on the verge of death, Dean (Jensen Ackles) will go inside his brother's mind (with a little help from their new pal Ezekiel) and ultimately make a difficult choice in order to save his only family.

Meanwhile, a new trailer (below) shows that Sam will not make the situation any easier as his fights with the elder Winchester and has a confrontation with Death (Julian Richings) himself.

Fans can new see a new poster for the premiere via The Hollywood Reporter. The image shows Sam, Dean, Castiel (Misha Collins), and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) against the background of the season 8 finale's closing scene with the message "Prepare for the Fall."

Supernatural moves to Tuesday nights and returns to the CW on Oct. 8.
