'Boardwalk Empire' Season 5 Confirmed: Steve Buscemi, HBO Tease 'Electrifying Season'
Boardwalk Empire fans can look forward to another season of the show.
"Thanks to Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Howard Korder and their stellar team, Boardwalk Empire remains in a class by itself," HBO's Programming President Michael Lombardo said in a statement about the show's renewal. "I look forward to another electrifying season of this impeccably crafted series."

The drama, which premiered in 2010, continues to be a hit for HBO. Season 4 started on Sept. 8 and has garnered around 2 million viewers every week. The average gross audience is also 7.5 million viewers.
Boardwalk Empire is an Emmy Award-winning drama that stars Steve Buscemi as Enoch "Nucky" Thompson. Nucky is an Atlantic City crime boss during the 1920s.
The series received five Emmy Awards at the 65th Annual award ceremony alone. Bobby Cannavale, who played Gyp Rosetti, won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. The rest of the awards included: Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series.
Actress, Christiane Seidel, who plays Sigrid on the show, was excited by the news.
"Whoop Whoop! HBO Renews 'Boardwalk Empire' For 5th Season," she tweeted on Thursday.
The news comes amidst HBO's other announcement that True Blood will end after the next season.
"True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO," Lombardo said in a previous statement. "Alan Ball took the books by Charlaine Harris, assembled a brilliant cast led by the magnificent Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie Stackhouse, and crafted a show that has taken its many devoted fans on an unforgettable journey."
As for season 7 he said: "Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show."
