Fans of BBC's hit show Sherlock continue to speculate over when the program will be airing its third season.

Loyalists are dying to know just how Sherlock's (Benedict Cumberbatch) bogus death to bring season 2 to a halt will affect the upcoming installment.

Although Christmas Specials aren't anything out of the ordinary for British programming, rumors recently started circulating that Sherlock would be launching one of its own, but the chatter was soon brought to a halt when the TV series' producer Sue Vertue took to Twitter to shoot it down.

"Sorry to squash the rumour but we haven't shot a #Sherlock Xmas special I'm afraid."

While Oct. 31 is a date that's recently been thrown around, it appears as though the show's upcoming launch date is still up in the air.

"Post-production will still be on-going for Sherlock until way into November," stated the BBC network.

The respective show adheres to the standards of the U.K. network, as it doesn't schedule exact air-date months until the finished episodes are in its hands.

Interesting to note, it's now been two years since the program was last seen with new episodes on the small screen. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest information on the popular series.
