Netflix's Orange Is The New Black continues to garner an increasing amount of attention for its second season, which is due to come out next year.

While in attendance this past week at PaleyFest: Made In New York alongside her fellow castmates, actress Kate Mulgrow, who plays Red, dished not only on the method behind her mane, but also on the influence it receives by showrunner Jenji Kohan, according to Comic Book Resources.

"I had long, lovely, healthy, luxurious hair - and every time I'd come up to Jenji from the make-up trailer, she'd tell me to go back. Short and shorter, more and more magenta ... finally, eggplant with spikes," she said.

Kohan, who was rocking green and purple hair herself, elaborated on the power struggle amongst her various characters, which should more than likely serve as a key component in the upcoming installment.

"I'm [interested] in people and their relationship with power. I don't set out and say, 'I want to write about power dynamics.' I fall in love with characters. I fall in love with their stories. And I think power dynamics are a great story device," she added.

Orange Is The New Black will launch season 2 at some point in 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest info on the popular series. A preview video can be viewed below.
