The Tomorrow People - a brand new paranormal teen drama - is premiering on The CW Wednesday night at 9 p.m. EST.

In the pilot episode, viewers are introduced to Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell), a high school student from New York who learns that his sleepwalking and voices in his head are byproducts of special powers. He is taken into an underground lair where he discovers his Tomorrowness, which allows him to teleport, have telepathy and perform telekinesis.

A genetic mutation is the cause of the young group of Tomorrow People and they have to defend themselves against a group called Ultra, who seek to turn them against each other. Meanwhile, Stephen tries to find his father, who happens to be the most powerful Tomorrow Person.

Some of Stephen's fellow Tomorrow People include John Young (Luke Mitchell), Cara Coburn (Peyton List) and Russell Kwon (Aaron Yoo). Mark Pellegrino stars as Mr. Jedikiah Price, the leader of Ultra who is fixed on destroying the Tomorrow People.

The Tomorrow People has received mixed reviews from critics that have seen the pilot episode. While The New York Times said that Amell is capable as the lead of the show they also note that the series does not have any "kick" to its storytelling.

IGN wrote that the first episode does a good job with setting up the world of the Tomorrow People, but added that it does not have a strong enough "hook."

The Tomorrow People premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
