Fans of Netflix's hit program, House of Cards, were undoubtedly thrown off when rumors surfaced that the show wouldn't run past its sophomore season.

The chatter ignited last week at the Vancouver Film Festival, which is where co-executive producer Rick Cleveland stated that it "is only going to go a second season and I think that's it. Kevin Spacey likes to do movies and Robin Wright likes to do movies."

Although Spacey (Francis Underwood) and Wright (Claire Underwood) do indeed fancy their faces on the big screen, Today reported on Oct. 12 that little else supports the scary buzz.

To top it off, executive producer Beau Willimon recently took to Twitter to squash the initial rumors.

"For all of you worried about the @HouseofCards rumors, a little perspective → today.com/entertainment/..."

When Netflix took on the series, it ordered 26 episodes. However, Willimon stated that the respective number didn't indicate that more weren't desired.

"We certainly approached the show with a film-making sensibility-not just in the shooting of it but also in the narrative. I didn't write the show thinking about commercials or cliffhangers or how a traditional TV season is structured or with a particular episode order in mind. Everyones on this show is a rebel. We like breaking the rules and we like trying new things.

While no air date for House of Cards has yet to be officially determined, but the show has continually been projected to start season 2 at some point in early 2014.
