To the excitement of its numerous loyalists, CBS' Criminal Minds will be launching its fourth episode of season 9 on Wednesday titled, To Bear Witness.

CBS released a sneak peek hinting at what fans can anticipate, which includes Esai Morales gracing them with his presence in a recurring role capacity as Mateo Cruz.

Following the Replicator's slaying of Strauss in the eighth installment, Hotch (Thomas Gibson) was used to fill in on a temporary basis as the section chief, and it was considered feasible that he could take on the position permanently.

However, Cruz will be coming on board, and unbeknownst to the team, has a long history that involves JJ (A.J. Cook).

In the promo, the former is shown interrupting the team to meet them as they're mulling over their latest case. After the room clears out, JJ says that Cruz could've informed her about the move. His reply to her statement indicates that they know each other rather well.
