'Supernatural' Season 9 Spoilers: Castiel Unaware of Sam's Possession by Ezekiel, Misha Collins' Angel Less of a Liability as Story Progresses VIDEO
Supernatural's Castiel (Misha Collins) is homeless once more following the events of "I'm No Angel."
The celestial being was recently kicked out of his heavenly home and striped of his grace but Dean's (Jensen Ackles) dismissal looked like it hurt the newly human angel even more.
"[Cas] doesn't have the power that he needs to protect himself or to protect us," Ackles recently told TV Line. "[Dean] literally has to sit down with him and be like, 'You gotta go.' That sends Cas out on his own to fend for himself. [In] Episode 7, we come to find out where he's been and what he's been doing, and that's pretty funny."
Despite Cas' status as a liability, the elder Winchester brother probably would have kept him at the Men of Letters bunker if it weren't for Ezekiel's ultimatum that only one of them could stay - either him or Castiel. While it would help matters if Dean were to explain to Cas the situation and the circumstances surrounding Ezekiel's possession of Sam (Jared Padalecki), it doesn't appear as if he will.
"Cas and Ezekiel knew each other way back when, but Cas is kept in the dark for a long time about what Dean did with Ezekiel," Collins said, according to TV Line.
However, Collins also revealed that Cas wont be a hindrance to the brothers for the whole season.
"Because the angels are out to get him, he's a liability at the beginning of the season," Collins said, according to TV Line. "As the season progresses, that will change."
It is currently unknown when Cas will become more of an asset. However, the return of Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) around episode 9, "Holy Terror," may help to shed some light on that topic.
Supernatural airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on the CW. Check out a preview for next week's episode, "Slumber Party."
