Mad Men makeup artist Lana Horochowski recently shared secrets from the set with OK! Magazine, including some details about star Jon Hamm.

The makeup artist revealed that Hamm - who plays complicated ad man Don Draper - usually requires a lot of shaving before filming.

"We shoot such long hours, and for Jon [Hamm] we shave sometimes two, three times a day," she revealed.

Hamm is often seen in public sporting a lot of facial hair, with a mustache and full beard. For playing Don Draper, the actor has to have a close shave for every episode to match the character's traditional style.

As for the other men on the show, Horochowski explained that some of them are wearing more facial hair now that the series has reached the end of the '60s.

"Now that we're in the later season, some of them are wearing fake facial hair. It's more skin maintenance. We throw a little tinted moisturizer on them," she noted.

Horochowski also discussed her strategy in working with Peggy (Elisabeth Moss), the mousy secretary turned cosmopolitan copy director.

"She always does have that element where she's trying, but she's in a man's world and she's trying to keep up with the boys," she said. "We try to make her eyeliner wobbly-trying to make it messy without looking too clownish is the constant challenge."
