'Sherlock' Season 3 Spoilers: Benedict Cumberbatch & Martin Freeman's Are 'Genuises' In Upcoming Series? [VIDEOS]
With a U.S. release date now set in stone and its U.K. launch undoubtedly happening prior to that, the hit British TV series, Sherlock, has garnered a slew of attention over its upcoming third installment.
While promoting his upcoming film Locke, actor Andrew Scott, who dons the role of the late antagonist Moriarty, had touched on the results of the program's season 2 finale to Flicks And The City , which came to a halt with its beloved Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) faking his own death.
However, many fans have also continued to wonder whether his character is truly dead, which he had come clean with.
"There's a lot of questions on the outcome of the plot and as you can imagine, I'm going to remain stern on that front. Moriarty is dead," he said.
Director Jeremy Lovering, who had admitted that the cast and crew shot some pretend scenes for series 3 to throw fans off, gave kudos to actors Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (Watson) for their incredible work on the upcoming season.
"Their genuises. Martin is, his comic timing is second to none. And Ben is very fun and brilliant, and there were moments where I genuinely felt massively inspired," he said.
Sherlock will be making its return to television in the U.S. on Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. While its U.K. release will be happening sooner, an official date has yet to be announced.
